Assessing
Your Creative Potential
Rather than ask you a series
of questions and let your answers put you in a little creativity box, we'd like to
help you break out of the assessment box with these five points:
First: There isn't any
such "thing" as creativity. There isn't some part of your brain called "Creativity
Central" that's big in some folks and little in others. Creativity is a complex
stew of different ways of thinking, life experiences, perspectives, motivations, talents,
life challenges and the world's response to your ideas and efforts. So, if you're
human and if you're breathing, you are creative. You may have forgotten how to use
your creativity ... you may even have buried it under tons of life rubble. But, it's
there and you can relearn how to use it. (For more, see Are
You Creative?)
Second: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE
TO MEASURE INDIVIDUAL CREATIVE POTENTIAL. Period. Exclamation Point!! Some assessments
might give you clues about how you think or how you might like to express your creative
potential, but they absolutely cannot measure it.
Third: Everyone has
creative potential.
Fourth: Everyone has
more creative potential than they will ever use.
Fifth: Everyone can
learn to use more of his or her own creative potential ... that's why we're here.
Use some of that creative potential
